Birding across the border

We are starting!

Murman Bird together with the regional office of the "All-Russia Society for Nature Conservation" and with the support of the Administration of the Kandalaksha area seek extra-budgetary sources of financing for the project on arrangement of ecological trails for birders and pupils in the area of ​​the vent channel of Niva HPP Cascade. The results are there. The project was a finalist for a regional grant competition for non-profit organizations, which was held at the end of the year, the Government of the Murmansk region, and will receive a small financial support for the first phase. We are waiting for the results of the cooperation between the Administration of the Kandalaksha area with JSC "Kola nuclear power plant."

Ulyanovsk ornithologists have completed an expedition to the North


The famous ornithologist Ulyanovsk, Ph.D., senior lecturer in zoology UlGPU Mikhail Korepov completed an expedition to Lovozero Massif.

New colony of northern gannet in Murmansk region


July 31, 2015 with the support of the World Wildlife Fund ended the first part of the field work in the territory of the Regional Natural Park "Rybachi i Sredny Peninsulas", aimed at identifying potentially suitable locations for organizing tours for lovers of ornithology. As a result of the first results lead to the conclusion that the area of ​​the park is one of the most interesting locations for birding in the Murmansk region. Among the bird species encountered - Rough-legged Buzzard, White-tailed Eagle, bird colony on the Cape Sharapov. A key finding was the previously unknown colony of northern gannets on isl. Big Anikiev, there are about 500-700 birds. It is the largest known colonies of gannets in the Murmansk region.
